Acuña, Mexico Christmas Mission Trip

December 21-23, 2007

We had the privilege of taking a team of 54 people to Acuña, Mexico, just across the border from Del Rio, Texas, to serve our neighbors in need. We were able to purchase and assemble walls, doors, and windows inside a ministry home that will be used to house two new families in Martinez Martinez as they integrate into the neighborhood and secure housing of their own. We also provided tarps for two other homes to keep out the elements, lead crafts and games for approximately 150 children, taught needlepoint to a large group of moms and supplied them with their own needles and yarn to make blankets/clothes for their families. We provided clothes, coats, blankets, medicine, baby formula for sick babies, toiletries, and a basket of food for a week (with half a chicken) to each family (over 200). In addition, we served a hot dog supper to the church in Los Torres and shared in worship with them, where we sang together and fellowshiped as one body in Christ. It was an amazing experience! Most importantly, our trip provided hope for those in desperate need. We were able to let them know that God loves them and for them to continue to trust in Him.
We thank God for the privilege to serve and we thank all who participated in the mission--either on the "sending" team or the "going" team.
